All about AURORE
In case we haven’t met—I’m Carly, the founder and editor-in-chief of Aurore, a collection of real sex stories. I started Aurore because I was craving a space to refocus on positive sexual experiences; I wanted to drown out the negativity of politics, sex tips for the unenlightened, too-cool-to care manifestos and get closer to the heart of pleasure and intimacy through memorializing my best encounters.
Since I launched the site I’ve collected 200 (and counting!) stories from women and LGBTQ+ people. I still work one-on-one with writers to help them shape their writing and because quality is incredibly important to me. I seek to publish stories that haven’t been told, that show a new side of sex and intimacy, by voices that aren’t always represented in the mainstream.

What is AURORE?

AURORE is for everyone! The majority of our contributors are women and people in the queer community. However our stories are excellent for cis men looking to learn more about what women want, since the stories detail exactly that. AURORE stories are also a lovely option for couples who may not feel like watching visual porn together, but want to act as voyeurs or try out new scenarios together.
Who writes the stories?
The bulk of AURORE stories come in through submissions, largely anonymous. Some stories are commissioned by AURORE, especially when we are seeking to represent specific experiences in sex. Some of our commissioned stories detail healing after sexual assault, engaging with sex workers, and hooking up while HSV2+.
We provide a submission guide for anyone interested (just email us) and a submission form on the site. Many writers return to us to share more stories—the experience is thrilling! Most of our writers are not professional writers by trade, and we tend to prefer writers who haven’t written erotica before. The fresher the perspective, the better.
Who edits and publishes the stories?
I do! AURORE started with several stories of my own and my friends, and as the submissions began to roll in, I’ve continued to work one-on-one with writers to guide them through the process of writing real erotica. It’s a really lovely experience and extremely healing for the writer. I’m grateful so many people have trusted me with their stories, confessions, and secrets. This space is so needed.
Tell me more about the stories?
Stories run anywhere from around 1000 words to 3000 words. Some stories are even longer, such as the choose your own adventure erotica “The Fox and The Hound” and others that were published in installments like “The Cowboy” and “It Girl”. Some stories are “quick and smutty” and get straight to the point, others are a “slow burn” and linger on. All stories seek to tell about our best sexual experiences while remaining relatable. And yes, they are quite explicit and go into graphic details. Any stories that feature a kink or act that may be triggering include a content warning.
Tell me more about the audios?
Our audios were designed to provide “jerk off instructions” to be used to guide you in your solo pleasure pursuits. Some audios focus on self-love and gentle loving touch, while others guide you through edging. We have diverse voices and scenarios so you can pick your poison. Audios fall between 8 minutes and 20 minutes.
What do you mean by “READ PORN”?
For many of us, porn is a dirty word that brings about feelings of guilt and shame, or jealousy and inadequacy. By putting it in a new medium, we are able to make it our own—we can use our imaginations and experiences to insert ourselves into these stories of other people’s best experiences, thus multiplying our own. We are able to learn step by step moves to give pleasure in our real lives, while simultaneously experiencing the pleasure of the story itself. Reading porn means better sex for everyone.
